Tom Greco to Speak in Tucson on Barter and Alternative Currencies

Economist and consultant Tom Greco, an expert oncommunity economic development, community currencies and cashless exchange systems will share his wealth of knowledge with the people of Tucson.


Sustainable Tucson and Antigone Books has announced that Greco will be speaking on Thursday, February 22, 7:30 p.m. at a Local Author Event Series on Sustainability to be held at El Ojito Springs Center for Creativity, 452 South Stone Avenue. (Healthy snacks and delicious beverages will be available at the El Ojito Springs deli counter.)

Tom Greco, who lives in Tucson is the author of Money: Understanding and Creating Alternatives to Legal Tender, will speak on alternative currencies, mutual credit clearing systems.

He will also cover some innovative ways modern cities and communities have created prosperity grounded in local resources, while moving beyond the current debt creating and inflationary monetary system.

Greco was the keynote speaker at The International Reciprocal Trade Association 30th Convention this past September 14th to the 17th at the TradeWinds Island Grand resort in St. Petersburg Beach, Florida.

Greco is an economist, educator, writer, researcher, and consultant, who, for more than 20 years, has been working at the leading edge of transformational restructuring. Besides his frequent presentations and interviews, he has served as an advisor on the creation of monetary alternatives.

His expertise includes community economic development, monetary theory, community currencies and cashless exchange systems, computer applications, information and educational technologies, statistics, and survey research.
