What Ever Happened To Lance Lundberg, The Corporate Barter Guy?

January 31st, 2008 · by Bob Meyer · No Comments

From Peter Tucker, President of CTEX Group, Inc.CTEX

“I read the information on your Tuesday Report about ICON International. What ever happened to their young founder Lance Lundberg? He was a smart guy. Seems to me that 10 years plus ago, when I last attended an IRTA event, Lance was speaking and the audience was spellbound.”

Lance is now buying and renovating real estate properties…office, retail and multi-family investments and condominium conversions. He’s a partner in the Prospect Capital Group ProspectCapital

I agree with you Peter, Lance was a very smart guy. The interview I did with him for a cover story back in the fall of 1998 (Issue #46) was one of my more fascinating trips. Lundberg was one of the commercial barter industry’s architects…he approached the business from a proactive “barter finance” perspective.

He carved out a niche for ICON by pioneering barter relocation arrangements for major corporations, enabling them to relocate and escape their onerous rent liabilities.

In the interview Lundberg shared that one of his outstanding successes occurred early on when he traded with an upstart cable channel, ESPN. He acquired thousands of minutes, and he warehoused them (held them) …and they just kept increasing in value, as ESPN became all the rage. That one deal helped financed his corporate barter business.
