A Barter Exchange Offers You A Versatile Secondary Currency

February 9th, 2008 · by Bob Meyer · No Comments

n today’s changing economic environment, where the traditional avenues of money have narrowed, the entrepreneur must become reoriented and work on developing a new mind-set, an expanded way-of-thinking. The need for capital is on-going despite the changes in our economy.

Their are various forms of capital. The use of non-cash, or secondary currencies, are growing in popularity and they different forms. In the corporate world it is often finding another company to interact with and create joint ventures, or complementary relationships. Often referred to as leveraging assets, they use what they have to gain access to what they need.

For a smaller company the same type of action is often referred to as bootstrapping, or cross-promoting. In either case it involves working with another company wherein both parties benefit.

There is yet another way to get out of the gate when building and expanding your business…it’s by building a relationship with a barter exchange, and using their barter (trade dollar) dollar currency.

A barter exchange, also called a trade exchange, offers you the opportunity to turn your products and services into a currency (via sales to members of the exchange) that can then be spent in hundreds of different ways with the many members of (or within) the exchange.

The benefits are two fold. First, the additional business and subsequent purchases will save you cash. And second, it’s a world completely separate from your cash market. It’s incremental business, so it doesn’t compete with or upset any of your present cash business.

Relationships in life are important. They come in many forms, are valuable, and should be pursued at every opportunity.
