How To Barter For Transportation & Travel (BarterNews #6)
February 29th, 2008 · by Bob Meyer · No CommentsHere is a look at Issue #6 of BarterNews…
One of the founding pillars of the commercial barter industry was the first executive director of IATE (now IRTA), Paul Suplizio. We interviewed the 55-year-old executive director and West Point alumnus. It was an exciting time for commercial barter, which is very evident when reading this extensive 17-page far-ranging interview with Suplizio, covering and dissecting the many challenges as well as accomplishments of the young industry.
Ted Demmon, a former VP of marketing with the New York Racing Association, left a very lofty position for an opportunity to get in on what he exclaimed “was an opportunity of a lifetime.” Demmon purchased a Barter Systems International franchise…the largest barter company in the U.S., back in the mid-80s. The article outlined both his barter endeavors and his varied and interesting background.
Another niche story was the 6-page “How To Barter For Transportation, Travel and Moving.” Finally, an article of unusual interest for horse lovers (several horse lovers wrote us and said it was a dream come true to see such an article about their passion), “Bartering Returns To The Horse Industry.”
