A Classic Barter Deal — MAP For Autos
March 7th, 2008 · by Bob Meyer · No CommentsAmerican Honda Motor Co. has inked a three-year deal with PGA National Resort & Spa, which named Honda the official vehicle of the resort. It looks to me like a classic barter deal, the resort provides marketing, advertising and promotional support in exchange for the use of Honda vehicles.
The Palm Beach, Fla.-based resort, which hosted the Honda Classic golf tournament in 2007, will now feature Honda vehicles on display as shuttle vehicles, for limited test-drives and as a perk for staying in the “Honda Suite.”
he deal also includes consumer-based promotions, advertising on in-room TV channels and renaming of select resort venues. This includes the new outdoor pavilion (now called the “Honda Pavilion”), which overlooks the 18th hole of the championship course.
