The One Area Where 10% Returns Are Virtually Guaranteed
May 10th, 2008 · by Bob Meyer · No CommentsFor me, I find reading some of my notes of years past is a good way to stay grounded. Here’s an example of what I mean.
“To make 10% consistently is a great achievement, very few people achieve it.”
—Philip Carret,
founder of Carret & Co., New York City
Years ago, when the Dow Jones Industrial Average broke the 5000 barrier The Wall Street Journal asked a number of the old-timers what they thought about the new DJIA high.
We quoted Mr. Carret because he was a 100 years old, the oldest of those interviewed, and his comments point out the significance of how difficult it is to make 10% on your investments consistently.
Considering such, maybe a “refocus” is needed on our part, as business owners. Because when we enter into barter agreements — buying and selling at our variable cost-of-doing business — we can easily earn profits of considerably more than 10%.
Such profits can be reinvested in your company making it possible to dramatically increase your wealth!
