(BarterNews #33) Winning The Countertrade Wars
May 18th, 2008 · by Bob Meyer · No CommentsWe covered IRTA’s 15th Annual Convention, held at the Tradewinds in St. Petersburg Beach (FL). This convention drew a record 208 attendees from 110 companies (including Dan West, president of the American Countertrade Association, and Piero Piccardi of Milan, Italy, who represented the 278 World Trade Centers).
Publisher Bob Meyer addressed the convention, pointing out the bright future of barter in a talk titled, “The Twin Forces Of Technology And Global Capitalism Will Catapult The Barter Movement Forward” which was included in this issue.
Another outstanding article was penned by Bill Gallagher of the Washington Times. He shared with radio station management his barter knowledge obtained from Electronic/Radio Group’s 3-day seminar by Jerry Del Calliano.
In our Corporate Barter Section we looked at Transmedia’s bartering efforts with 3,400 restaurants.
Bob Meyer traveled to Columbus (OH) to cover the United Nation’s World Summit on Trade Efficiency and Technology—it was the first U.N. meeting in the U.S. to be held outside of New York City.
We also did a piece on the new “risk-free” trading policy launched by Active International.
And Matt Schaffer, the author of Winning the Countertrade War, explained with examples the need for thinking cooperatively. He stressed the growing importance of relationships…especially in the countertrade arena.
