The $2 million Question With Buffett
June 30th, 2008 · by Bob Meyer · No CommentsYesterday’s astounding bid to pay $2.1 million to have lunch with billionaire Warren Buffett is staggering. Yet, the Chinese investment fund manager, Zhao Danyang, of the Hong-Kong-based Pureheart China Growth Investment Fund will most likely find it to be one of his best investments.
Suddenly, everyone has heard (or read) of him and his fund, new business is bound to come his way. And his questions to Buffett could bring answers that will reap additional future profits for the company, as Zhao and up to seven friends dine with Buffett at the Smith & Wollensky steakhouse in New York City.
The other winner in this auction is the Glide Foundation, which provides social services to the poor and homeless in San Francisco. Incidently, last year’s auction of lunch with Buffett (who offers this luncheon once a year for Glide) went for $650,100.
