Tuesday, May 20th, 2008 Our cover story took place at the charming Orfila Vineyards near San Diego. There we interviewed three very enterprising gentlemen, all located in Southern California (Los Angeles, Orange County, and San Diego), who had formed an unusual strategic alliance to bring more products and services to their barter clients. We revealed how Alan Zimmelman, Ilan Ben-Yosef, and Duncan Banner formed “The California Connection,” and what actions were taken to make it a successful endeavor.
The author of Barter Systems, A Business Guide For Trade Exchanges, Roger Langrick, shared his perspective on the barter industry. Some of his comments were quite surprising.
A record 257 attendees made the trek to the MGM Hotel in Las Vegas for NATE’s 11th Annual Convention. One of the highlights of the program was titled, “Meet the Players,” during which representatives from the printing and hotel industry explained how they viewed barter and utilized it to increase company profits.
